Named after a Native American tribe named Ute, meaning "people of the mountains", Utah is generally known for its ski resorts that and its Mormon community. With a population of approximately 2 700 000 people, Utah is located in Western United States. Utah’s capital is Salt Lake City, host of the Olympic Games in 2002 and it is well known for its average heavy snowfall which reaches 500 inches. Utah’s economy is based on mining and tourism. Winter tourism is one of the major revenue generators in Utah. Salt Lake City, Ogden, Park City and Provo are the most famous locations in Utah for winter sports. Used as a shooting location for dozens of films, Utah proved itself to be an extremely inspiring location for the film industry. For legendary films like El Dorado, Wild Wild West or Pirates of the Caribbean Utah have been chosen as shooting location. Its extraterrestrial surroundings have been used as background for productions such as Planet of the Apes (1968) and Planet of the Apes (2001).
